The conference, the outcome of which is this anthology, was part of the week-long international workshop ART BRUT BRNO 2021, which took place in Brno during October 2021. The event, focused on the artistic creation of handicapped artists, was, as in the previous year, organized by the KreAt studio and included, in addition to the joint artistic work of the participants, also film, theater, art and literary presentations presenting the creative activities of this marginalized group.
The anthology thus presents further probes into the issue of research into the current state of activities of artists, doctors, theoreticians, teachers, social workers, collectors and studios specializing in the artistic creation of handicapped artists.
The proceedings were prepared on the occasion of the conference and workshop ART BRUT BRNO 2020.
In the history of the annually realized international events of the KreAt studio at the Moravian Gallery, the meeting in the form of a conference was held in 2020 for the first time, with the participation of inspiring personalities from the circle of professional workers in the field of psychiatry, psychotherapy, art history and artistic and curatorial work. In addition to direct art work, the workshop also included film screenings and theatrical performances from the field of outsider art and vernissages of works by handicapped artists.
